IRCTC – Railways comes up with a booming initiative for passengers who love shopping

New Delhi:- September – 23, To ensure a better experience of traveling in trains, This Thursday, Indian Railways came up with a new initiative in which passengers in the Tejas trains will be able to enjoy on-board shopping system, for products of daily need, similar to the one found in flights. This move will also get initiated in Karnavati Express traveling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai.
Alongside enjoying from very modern facilities, passengers traveling in these trains will also experience a new mode of shopping whilst their journeys. Only passengers traveling in AC coaches will have the opportunity to enjoy on-board shopping experience.

Licensed contractors will have their salespersons dressed up in Uniforms to maintain a sense of Professionalism alongside being equipped with a shopping cart. Passengers will have the most products available at MRP and among others, household products, cosmetics, health care products, Stationery products and others are made to be available at Maximum retail price, according to Indian Railways. To ensure easy and convenient shopping, Catalogues will be provided to the passengers regarding the details of the products from which they can browse before placing an order.

Passengers shall also have the facility of making online payments through Modes such as Paytm and Google Pay. Salespersons will be having sales machine to facilitate payments made through Credit cards and Debit cards. Through this move, which was earlier available only on Air Travellers or through E-shopping, passengers can enjoy the pleasure of shopping conveniently right at the place of their seat alongside enjoying their journey.

According to a senior Railway officer, last year Mumbai’s Division of Western Railways got the contract at a cost of 3.5 Crore Rupees for Onboard shopping. Regarding the response of the Ministry of Railways, a tweet giving the briefs of this flagship move was tweeted on twitter. Tejas Express from Lucknow – Delhi will be flagged off by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, according to sources.

In the First phase, this move will get started in two trains and after its success, it shall get initiated in other trains.
